2024 Program Info & Deadlines
Winter 2023: Recommendation Process Begins
Your office can submit a potential honoree recommendation through the Angels in Adoption® online recommendation form. List of this year's recommendations from community members will be distributed in mid-March. Additional options for identifying a recommendee include (1) calling foster care and adoption-related agencies in your state and/or (2) asking constituents for input on potential candidates. Recommendations will be reviewed by the Angels in Adoption® Selection Committee, a volunteer committee made up of child welfare professionals, former congressional staff, alumni of the Angels in Adoption Program, alumni of the CCAI Foster Youth Internship Program, and other community partners. For assistance with the recommendation process, contact Sara Schleicher at [email protected]. A detailed Senate Step-by-Step Angels in Adoption® Recommendation Guide (2024 version coming soon!) is available for more info on recommending a potential Angel in Adoption® honoree.
May 15: Recommendation Process Ends
All congressional recommendations received are brought to the CCAI Angels in Adoption® selection committee to consider.
By June 11: Angel Honorees Selected by Selection Committee & Notified
After the Angels in Adoption® selection committee meets in late May, CCAI will send your office an email if your recommendation was or was not ultimately selected as an honoree. About two weeks later, CCAI will let you know if your recommendee has accepted the award and if so, the recommendee is then considered an official 2024 Angels in Adoption® honoree. It is important CCAI receives a signed media release before publicly publishing their name and affiliation with the program.
